What is Retro Refresh?
Retro Refresh specialises in restoring and upgrading classic tech — including iPods, handheld consoles, and other retro devices — bringing them back to life for modern everyday use.
What devices do you work on?
We currently work on:
- iPods (Classic, Video, etc.)
- PlayStation handhelds (PSP, PS Vita)
- Nintendo handhelds (Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, etc.)
If you’re unsure about a specific device, just get in touch.
Are your devices genuine?
Yes — all builds start with genuine original hardware.
We restore and upgrade them using a mix of original parts and high-quality replacement components where needed.
What upgrades do you offer?
Depending on the device, upgrades can include:
- new batteries
- flash storage upgrades (iPods)
- new housings / shells
- screen replacements
- button and click wheel replacements
- cosmetic refreshes
- custom colour combinations
Can I request a custom build?
Yes — custom builds are a big part of what we do.
Whether it’s a custom iPod or a fully refreshed handheld console, we can work with you to create something unique.
Seen a design you like?
Send us a photo and we’ll do our best to recreate it.
How long does a custom build take?
Most custom builds take around 3–4 weeks.
Timing may vary depending on:
- parts availability
- complexity of the build
- current workload
Are ready-made devices available?
Yes — we regularly stock ready-to-buy devices.
These are fully refurbished and tested, ready for immediate dispatch.
We also offer made-to-order builds for customers looking for something more customised.
Do your devices come with new batteries?
Yes — wherever possible, devices are fitted with a brand new battery as part of the refresh process.
How much storage can I get on an iPod?
Storage options vary depending on the model, but many iPods can be upgraded well beyond their original capacity using modern flash storage.
Are these suitable for everyday use?
Yes — all devices are tested and prepared for real-world use.
That said, these are refurbished vintage devices, so they should still be treated with care.
Do you test devices before sending them out?
Yes — every device is tested before dispatch to ensure everything is working as expected.
Do devices come with games or music?
No — devices are sold without any preloaded content.
Do you offer repairs?

If you’re unsure what’s possible, send us details and we’ll take a look.
